Man Struck and Killed by Metro Train at King Street Station
Event occurred during Friday evening rush hour

An adult male jumped or stepped off the platform at King Street Metro station during Friday evening rush hour.
The man was struck and killed at approximately 5:40 p.m. Emergency responders from the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority are on the scene and investigating the incident. Alexandria police also are on the scene, although it's considered a Metro transit investigation, according to an Alexandria Police Department spokesman.
"The act appears to have been intentional," said WMATA spokesman Dan Stessel.

Police are allowing passengers to exit the trains and station, but are not permitting anyone to enter the station as of about 7 p.m.
Blue and yellow line trains are operating on a single track with major delays.
