Many City Streets Remain Closed

Storm damage has closed the following streets. This update comes from the City of Alexandria around 7 p.m. Saturday.

As cleanup from storms that hit the area Friday evening continues, city streets remain closed at the following locations. The streets are closed because fallen trees have become entangled with power lines, and for safety reasons, cannot be cleared until crews from Dominion Virginia Power are available to remove the downed lines.

Residents are advised to stay away from these streets until further notice:

  • Mosby Street at West Mount Ida Avenue
  • 300 block of Alabama Avenue
  •  500 block of E. Alexandria Avenue
  • 300 block of Ashby
  • Unit block of Canyon Drive
  • 800 block of Chetworth Street
  • 5200 block of Colfax
  • 2400 block of Crest Street
  • 500 block of Fairbanks Avenue
  •  500 block of S. Fairfax Street
  • 2700 block of Kenwood Avenue
  • 200 block of Queen Street
  • 2900 block of  Richmond Lane
  • 1400 block of Ruffner Road
  • 1800 block of Russell Road
  • 200 block of N. West Street
