Power Restored Tuesday Night to More Than 2,500 Homes in Alexandria
Widespread outage Tuesday night due to a blown transformer, according to Alexandria Police.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- According to Dominion Virginia Power, more than 2,500 homes were without power Tuesday night in Alexandria. As of about 8:45 p.m., power had been restored.

The Alexandria Police said on social media the outage was due to a blown transformer.
In all, 2,617 homes were without power as of about 7:30 p.m. Most of the outages fell along both sides of Duke Street, from just past Wheeler Avenue to S. Payne Street in Old Town.

A Dominion spokesman noted that power was out for one hour and eight minutes due to equipment failure.
