Name That Field

City seeks public comment to name the Lee Center Softball Field the Kelley Cares Miracle Field.

The city's Recreation and Parks Department is asking for public comment on a proposal to name the Lee Center Softball Field, located at 1108 Jefferson Street, “The Kelley Cares Miracle Field.”

Comment will be accepted through July 23.

A Miracle Field is a rubberized surface baseball diamond enabling individuals with special needs the opportunity to play outdoor sports in a productive environment. The proposal was forwarded by the Miracle League of Alexandria in response to the Kelley Cares Foundation’s support of the City of Alexandria’s therapeutic recreation program over the past several years.

The Kelley Cares Foundation has been instrumental in supporting the needs of the therapeutic recreation community for several years by donating significant funds and equipment to the city for use in the Therapeutic Recreation program, according to a statement from the city.
