Old Town Hosts Scottish Parade and Events

Old Town is hosting the 40th annual Scottish Walk this weekend with a parade beginning on Saturday at 11 a.m. This year, the event is sponsored by the Scottish government, and as always, the proceeds benefit the Campagna Center.

Old Town is hosting the 40th annual Scottish Walk this weekend, which benefits the Campagna Center's efforts to help Alexandria's students.

This year the Scottish government is the event's premier sponsor. 

The centerpiece of the Scottish Walk weekend is the parade on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. It will feature Scottish pipe and drum bands, Scottish dancers, re-enactment groups, Scottie dog groups, dignitaries and Santa Claus.

The parade will start at the intersection of Wilkes and South Saint Asaph streets, and wrap up at the intersection of King and Pitt streets.

The weekend also will feature a holiday marketplace, designer tour of homes, a children's tea party, and a Scotch tasting. Some events require advance registration. For more information, visit www.scottishchristmaswalk.com.
