Senior Citizens Day — Today we honor our seniors, so don’t be afraid to shake some hands or lend one if you get the chance. This observance was established in 1988 to honor senior citizens in the U.S. who make positive contributions in their communities. The day is also aimed at bringing awareness of social, health and economic issues that affect senior citizens.
