Shooting Of Occupied Home Leads To Third Arrest After Lengthy Investigation

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A third person has been arrested and charged in a shooting of an occupied home in Alexandria, according to police.

The shooting happened on July 30, 2024 in the 800 block of W. Glebe Road. Police say multiple rounds of bullets struck the home, but no one was injured.

On May 19, a grand jury indicted three suspects — Justin McKnight, 22 of Alexandria, Demetrius Charlton, 22, of Fairfax, and Jhamal Muskelly, 20, of Alexandria. All are charged with one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling and are being held without bond. Police say all three suspects have a violent criminal history involving firearms and narcotics offenses.

"Make no mistake: gun violence has no place in Alexandria," said Police Chief Tarrick McGuire in a statement. "We are committed to pursuing anyone who threatens the safety of our community and holding them fully accountable under the law."

The final suspect in the case had been arrested on May 28 as part of an effort by the Alexandria Police Department Special Investigations Unit, the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, and Fairfax County Police Department Fugitive Unit. Police say the investigation took 10 months due to extensive forensic analysis, including ballistic testing to link three guns to the shooting, as well as search warrants, interviews and coordination with multiple jurisdictions.
