Take a Look Inside the Homes of Old Town Alexandria
The Twig's 75th Annual Historic Alexandria Homes Tour takes place September 24.

From The Twig:
ALEXANDRIA, VA (August 19, 2016) – Have you ever strolled by one of the many unique homes of Old Town Alexandria and wondered about the history behind those doors? Perhaps you’ve seen construction and wondered how the owners updated a historic house? Wouldn’t it be fun to peek inside? On Saturday, September 24th, from 10 am to 3 pm, you can do just that!
On that date, The Twig is presenting its 75th Annual Historic Alexandria Homes Tour where patrons can tour six unique homes and gardens. Here’s a sneak preview of some of the houses. One house, with 13-foot ceilings and light-filled rooms showcasing antique furnishings, was built circa 1852 and even then was considered “commodious in its plan and arrangements.” The original structure of another tour house was assessed in 1796 for $500! Now a large house and expansive garden gracefully dominate the block and there is an interesting history of prominent owners, re-purposing for commercial use, then a conversion back to its former residential glory.
