ALEXANDRIA, VA — As the days are getting warmer, more people are heading outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and increasing number of events in Alexandria. The summer is shaping up to have a packed lineup of events, from food festivals to cultural observances like Pride and Juneteenth.

While summer doesn't start until June 20, the season unofficially kicks off around Memorial Day weekend. A few of the early summer highlights will be the Taste of Del Ray, Old Town Arts & Crafts Fair, ALX Jazz Fest and Juneteenth Celebration at the Athenaeum.

Around the Fourth of July, residents can expect returning favorites like the Independence Fireworks at Mount Vernon and Alexandria & USA Birthday Celebration.

Late summer highlights include the Friendship Firehouse Festival, Del Ray Bands and Brews Summer Bar Crawl and Around the World Cultural Food Festival.

Visit Alexandria, the city's membership-based tourism organization, is also highlighting Pride events as WorldPride comes to Washington, DC from May 17 to June 8. A few of the major Pride events will be Pride at Torpedo Factory Art Center, Priday Market & Drag Show and Alexandria Pride Fair.
