Travel + Leisure Nominates Alexandria Again For Best Cities In U.S.

Alexandria could once again be ranked among the best cities in the U.S. after first appearing on the list in 2022.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Whether it's because of historic charm or small city amenities with a location close to D.C., Alexandria can hold its own against the best cities in the country. That's why Alexandria is again nominated for the best cities in the U.S. ranking in Travel + Leisure's World's Best awards.

Alexandria was first featured on this list in 2022 and ranked 15th among the 15 cities on the 2024 list. It made the list among the likes of Charleston, South Carolina; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Savannah, Georgia; Honolulu, New York City; Nashville, Tennessee, Boston and more.

In addition to Alexandria's nomination in the cities category, Alexandria hotels Hyatt Centric Old Town, Hotel AKA Alexandria, Hotel Heron, Archer Old Town Alexandria, Morrison House and The Alexandrian are nominated in the hotels category.

Readers can vote in the Travel + Leisure's World's Best survey by visiting TLWBAVOTE.com. To help Alexandria make the ranking, readers would have to rate Alexandria as "excellent" across nine categories. The survey is open through Feb. 24 and gives readers a chance to win a $15,000 cash prize or a Viking cruise for two to Australia & New Zealand, or five other cash prizes. Voting is limited to one per email address.

The membership-based tourism organization Visit Alexandria has been leveraging high-profile rankings to boost visitor travel, and in turn, visitor-related revenues to the city. Alexandria has also made Southern Living and Condé Nast Traveler’s Best Small Cities list and has been featured in Money magazine and Fortune.
