ALEXANDRIA, VA — A Virginia State Police trooper suffered minor injuries Sunday afternoon in a rollover crash that occurred during a chase on westbound Interstate 495, authorities said.
Shortly before 4 p.m., a state trooper tried to stop a vehicle for reckless driving on Interstate 495 westbound near Eisenhower Avenue. The driver of a Honda Accord refused to stop, state police said, and a chase began.
During the pursuit, the Accord shifted from the second lane to the Van Dorn Street exit. The trooper continued to pursue but ended the chase to avoid striking a third, uninvolved, vehicle, state police said in a news release. When the trooper halted the chase, their patrol vehicle went off the road, struck a tree, and rolled over once.
