Volunteer Bike Group Wins Environmental Award

The all-volunteer Alexandria Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee received this year’s Ellen Pickering Environmental Excellence Award during .

The group started its efforts in February 2011 to help bring together the many citizens who enjoy walking and biking throughout Alexandria.

BPAC has supported installing bike racks on DASH buses, including bike networks in small area plans and launching a series of monthly community bike rides and encouraging the city to to Alexandria.
