Reston Association Passes Motion to Include New BLVD Properties

The motion could allow future residential properties outside the RA but within the Dulles Corridor to join the Association.

The Reston Association Board of Directors unanimously passed a motion at last week’s meeting that creates an avenue for new properties to be added to the association in the near future and further down the road.

The motion will allow new residential properties located outside the RA but within the Dulles Corridor to join the RA, following an alternate model that was approved at last week’s meeting.

The model would allow the RA to provide select services to developers in exchange for an initiation fee.

This model was inspired by Comstock’s BLVD Residential project, currently under construction at Reston Station, which is located outside the RA but within the Dulles Corridor. Properties in the corridor but outside the RA are not required to join, but will now be able to through this alternate model.

And because properties like BLVD have so many on-site amenities, rendering some of the RA’s services less valuable, new members can now also receive a 50 percent discount on assessment fees.

While this model was inspired by the new BLVD development, it could become the standard for adding new properties to the RA in the future, the RA stated in a news release following last week’s meeting.

The goal, according to the release, would be to create a more unified Reston community by finding ways to include more residential properties in the RA.
