VMFA returns trafficked 6th-century terracotta fragments to Turkey (wric.com) — Richmond’s Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has returned 41 ancient terracotta reliefs to Türkiye after investigators confirmed they were illegally excavated and trafficked. VMFA leaders say stolen or looted art has no place in their collection and worked with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Antiquities Trafficking Unit to repatriate the $400,000 worth of artifacts to their 6th-century B.C. temple site.
