Richmond Soccer Prodigy Terry “Tornado” Richard Named to Global Football Total’s “IDEAL XI” for October
Highly touted 15-year-old, who took his talents to Spain in September, is the only American named to the distinguished list.

Richmond’s Terry “Tornado” Richard has been named to the “IDEAL XI” list for October by Global Football Total, a renowned international football scouting and development organization that specializes in training young soccer prodigies within the Spanish football pyramid. The honor comes one month after Richard, just 15 years old, moved to Spain to play for Global Football Total’s under-16 team in the Mediterranean town of Valencia.
The IDEAL XI distinction is awarded monthly to 11 players who exemplify exceptional dedication, talent, and leadership both on and off the pitch. In four October games, Richard recorded two goals and two assists, helping his team to four wins.
He was the only American to earn a place on October’s IDEAL XI, joining an elite group of emerging international athletes representing Colombia, Japan, Jordan, Philippines, Russia, and Venezuela.

“Playing overseas has been an incredible experience and has really pushed me to grow as a player and as a person,” said Richard. “Being named to October’s IDEAL XI is a great honor, but it’s also motivation to keep improving and contributing to my team’s success.”
Richard’s journey began in 2014 on the fields of Virginia Beach, where his passion for the game quickly set him apart. From local recreational leagues to travel programs, he consistently played within and above his age group, earning recognition for his skill, vision, and leadership. From 2021-2024, he starred for Richmond United, where he further elevated his game against some of the region’s best competition.

In addition to his regular club play, Richard was frequently invited to guest play with top teams from across the East Coast, showcasing his talent at some of the nation’s most prestigious youth tournaments and showcases. His standout performances on these national stages helped to solidify his reputation as one of the most promising young soccer talents in his age group.
In January of this year, TheFutbol.office—a Spanish sports management and consultancy firm that helps Spain's top soccer clubs with international expansion and connects young talent with pro opportunities—took notice of Richard’s potential. That recognition led to a three months of training with Global Football Total and Real Sporting, a professional club in the Spanish coastal town of Gijón. During that time, Richard’s performance and adaptability to the European style of play resulted in an invitation to join Global Football Total’s under-16 team.
In the coming weeks, Richard is expected to join Patacona CF, a reserve youth team affiliated with Levante UD. Levante currently plays in LaLiga, Spain’s top professional football league alongside iconic clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid.
“I’m really excited about what’s ahead,” said Richard. “I feel like I’m just getting started, and I can’t wait to keep building on what I’ve learned and see how far I can take my game.”
