- The Roanoke Police Department is seeking the public’s help locating a man accused of committing an armed robbery. Officials say the incident happened in the 1800 block of Peters Creek Road and was carried out by a man with multiple tattoos on his hand. Anyone who has information about this incident or recognizes the individual pictured at the link is asked to call Detective Haley at 540-853-5617. (WSET)
- Two athletes from the Roanoke Valley were nominated as 2022 Athletes of the Year by the Virginia Commonwealth Games. Micah Jones, a youth track and field athlete from Roanoke, and Jacob Jackson, an adult bowler from Vinton, will go on to the National Congress of State Games later this year. Jones and Jackson are two of only four athletes to represent Virginia in those games. (WSLS 10)
- Roanoke County officials are inviting the public to provide input on potential routes for a future corridor of the Roanoke River Greenway. Residents will have a chance to offer feedback during an open house meeting tonight at the Spring Hollow Water Treatment Plant from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Locals may also submit their thoughts via an online survey through Nov. 4.
