- Fans of the Roanoke River Greenway are invited to celebrate three new murals decorating the trail’s southeast portion this weekend. The murals, which cover the supports of the 9th and 13th Street bridges, were created by local artist Jon Murrill with the help of more than 50 volunteers. The Wrap Party celebrating their completion will take place this Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Bennington Park Trailhead and feature light refreshments. (The Roanoke Star)
- A Virginia State Police Dispatch Center will be down today for system upgrades, impacting residents in the Roanoke and Salem areas. During this time, all phone lines will be transferred to Division III, Appomattox. (WSET)
