Here are the top four stories in Roanoke today:

  1. Officials with Roanoke City Public Schools and Roanoke City Police have said that a threat made against a Roanoke City high school on social media is not thought to be credible. It was not immediately clear at the time of the report which social media outlet had been used to issue the threat, but a robocall from RCPS superintendent Verletta White said, in part, " School administration and law enforcement have investigated and believe the information is NOT credible. Police are on-site at both high schools as an added precaution, and are monitoring the safety and security of everyone on campus." (WDBJ)
  2. Roanoke City Police say a man was injured after a shooting in the Colonial Avenue area of Southwest Roanoke early Friday morning. The victim was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of the non-life threatening injury and police have asked that anyone with any information please come forward. No suspects were found at the scene and circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear. (Roanoke Times)
  3. The Roanoke City-Allegheny Health District and the Virginia Department of Health will be hosting a joint Hepatitis A vaccination clinic for restaurant workers in the Roanoke area. The clinic is being held after several high profile Hep A cases at local restaurants. Officials will be at the Roanoke Public Library branch on Williamson Road on Monday, June 6. The vaccinations will be given free of charge. (WSLS)
  4. A Roanoke-based volunteer organization, Domestic Abuse Disturbance, dedicated to quickly removing women from abuse situations and giving them the tools they need to stay out is using the recent verdict in the Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard defamation trial to call attention to an important issue in abuse cases. "Besides family members, that’s the next biggest detriment to women in abusive situations is other women that use the system,” DAD Founder Trey Gregory said. (WSLS)
