Lee) graduate just landed a major promotion with the Chicago Cubs, becoming their vice president of pitching. Harrisonburg native Tyler Zombro, 31, earned the role after helping transform pitcher Brad Keller into a key bullpen arm, continuing an inspiring comeback story following his 2021 on-field head injury.
   

• New fund created to honor life of Waynesboro graduate Blake Durrett (newsleader.com) — Staunton-area residents can now support children at Ruth’s WARM House through the new Blake Durrett Fund, administered by the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge in Staunton. Created by Waynesboro’s Smooth Athletics to honor a beloved former employee, the fund will help cover kids’ essentials and activities like camps, lessons, and school programs so they can experience more stability and normalcy.
