Sridhar Ganesan, president of the Fairfax County Federation of Citizens Associations, sent the following letter on Sunday night to every member of the Virginia Senate.

Greetings.

I am writing to express the strong opposition of the members of the Fairfax County Federation of Citizens Associations (Federation) to the proposed Senate Bill 675 on building a casino in Tysons Corner in Fairfax County, Virginia.

We realize that this is a fast-moving situation, but I wanted to get our position on this ill-conceived casino proposal on the record and we will follow up in a day or two with a fuller discussion about our rationale.

The opposition to the proposed casino includes communities and associations representing tens of thousands of households that would be affected by this. Besides the Federation, they include McLean Citizens Association, Reston Association, the Town of Vienna, Reston Citizens Association, Citizens Opposed to Reston Casino, Great Falls Citizens Association, Sully District Council of Citizens Associations, Western Fairfax County Citizens Association, Fairfax County supervisors Walter Alcorn and Jimmy Bierman, and all of the delegates and senators from the Northern Fairfax County area.
