Early-Week Showers to Make Way for Sunshine: Weekly Weather Forecast

After a beautiful weekend in the Washington, D.C. area, wet weather will make its return at the start of this week.

With that said, the early-week storms in the forecast are expected to pass by Tuesday evening, making way for plenty of sunshine in the back-half of the week.

Highs throughout the week are not expected to top 85 degrees, and some wind gusts may get up to as high as 20 miles per hour by the middle of the week.

Monday: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a low around 7-0. South wind around 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Southwest wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. Northwest wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 82. Northwest wind 11 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 81.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 64.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 85.
