The clever, stand-up comic and author of Daddy Issues: A Fatherless Comedian’s Original Jokes Paperback. (Released April 2021), and his wife, Jill, plan to welcome his first child in December, and as such, there is clearly a great deal to celebrate this Father’s Day.

- The 186-page book of original jokes and puns continues to help us find our funny bone, as we wrestle with the aftermath of two years of pandemic isolation.

- “Daddy Issues is a distraction from everything in our lives,” Sidley says. "My book is really a celebration of the family and friends I've had and lost throughout my life.”

- Sidley's book also points out a way to find humor in everything – not just the good or bad; but literally everything. "I see my book as a self-help tool; after years of COVID-19 isolation we all need to re-learn how to laugh now more than ever.”

So, what has Sidley learned about himself and his career during the past year? "The comedy business is still tough. I'm trying to focus more on what actions I can control and what's worth giving my time and energy to," he says.

"I am also not beating myself up over opportunities I don't have."He wants to take an hour from his Father's Day 2021 gig to turn it into a cable TV special. There are plans for a second book to be released in 2023/2024. "I have plenty more jokes than I know what to do with."Sidley's most recent comedy venture in and around L.A., surrounded by several college buddies, put him in a vacation mindset that did wonders for his psyche.

"I did six gigs a night while I was in LA. One highlight was an audition I did for Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank," Sidley said. "It was a two-minute spot without an audience and yet it was surprisingly validating. Afterward, I spoke with the booker who had lots of great feedback. I left LA feeling like I had more control of my comedy destiny."

Having his childhood buddies in the audience for these gigs, some of them for the first time, was also a memorable experience.

"I had a friend who had never seen me do live stand-up before, and he was able to watch me perform three times in two days! It was fun getting to share that part of me with him and hear him talk about it afterward."
