Spring Hill RECenter Pool, Locker Rooms to Reopen; Construction Continues
Only a portion of the work is complete and there are still months of closures, partial openings, and construction work ahead.

Portions of the popular Spring Hill RECenter in McLean will reopen on Saturday, following the completion of the first phase of a multimillion renovation and expansion project, according to a news release from the county. Here’s more about it, from the release:
The Fairfax County Park Authority RECenter was closed for six weeks for biennial pool maintenance and construction projects to modernize the facility.
Park Services Division staff members caution everyone to keep in mind that only a portion of the work is complete and there are still months of closures, partial openings, and construction work ahead. RECenter pass holders are able to utilize other Park Authority facilities during this time of transition, but those eager to return to Spring Hill RECenter will find the pool ready for business this weekend.

A new mezzanine classroom, front desk area and offices are finished, and the modernized locker room and shower area will be open as well. Before the end of the year, five new family changing areas, or cabanas, will be opening, each with its own shower, toilet, and sink.
The 15,000-square-foot gymnasium, indoor elevated track (1/12-mile lap), and a new 12,000-square-foot, two-story fitness center will not open until the end of the year, and three multipurpose rooms will open early in 2015. The expansion project is funded by bond referenda passed by citizens in 2008 and 2012.
