Weekend: Jazz Pianist John Eaton Comes to McLean

Eaton will perform and inform at The Alden at the McLean Community Center.

Love jazz? You’re in luck. Coming to McLean this weekend: Jazz pianist John Eaton, performing Saturday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. at The Alden at the McLean Community Center. He will present “Jazz Masters with John Eaton - The Glorious Songs of Jerome Kern.”

You’ll learn about Kern’s life, writing style and musical hallmarks and hear classics such as “All the Things You Are,” “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” and selections from “Show Boat.”

Eaton is a jazz pianist, musicologist and humorist and brings his popular continuing education program to The Alden with an entertaining and insightful afternoon that combines his knowledge of the Great American Songbook, hilarious commentary and elegant, ultra-tasteful renditions of jazz standards, both popular and obscure.
