State election board will meet Nov.22 to tally final results; Vienna Police recover a purse taken in serial burglary incident

Coming off of a busy Halloween weekend, Vienna dove right into Election Tuesday. Vienna Patch was  where residents who voted said regardless of which candidate won, they just wanted someone who 

After the polls closed, Vienna Patch tallied the , as well as for . Residents in Vienna voted for Democratic incumbent Rep. Gerry Connolly over his Republican challenger Keith Fimian. In the 8th district, Vienna voters supported Patrick Murray over incumbent Jim Moran. Moran ultimately won the statewide election.

Vienna voters  supported ballot , concerning tax exemption for seniors;on tax exemptions for wounded service personnel; , on the "rainy day" fund; and on

The statewide results, however, were a bit more sticky. Connolly and Fimian were . On Wednesday, after counting the votes from two broken machines in Lorton, the results weren't any more conclusive. A winner won't be named until the election board meets on Nov. 22. 

Connolly's campaign has issued a statement saying they . Meanwhile, Fimian not conceeded,  for a win of their own. If the results remain within one percentage point, Fimian could request a recount.

Police linked the area's serial burglar to more burglaries, this time in the Great Falls area. The burglary brought the total number of incidents linked to the burglar to 109. We updated our map .

Police haven't found the burglar yet, but Vienna Police did reportedly taken by the serial burglar in a string of incidents Oct 13 on Nicholas Drive. A nearby residence found the purse in their yard on Oct. 31, and Police are holding it for forensic evidence.
