Driver Charged In Vienna Crash Causing Power Outages: Police
Vienna Police say a driver hit a utility pole in the crash that closed Maple Avenue and caused power outages.

VIENNA, VA — A driver was cited in the crash that closed Maple Avenue and caused power outages in part of Vienna Tuesday, police say.
The crash happened around 5:35 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Maple Avenue East. According to Vienna Police, two westbound vehicles were in adjacent lanes on Maple Avenue approaching Follin Lane when one driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a utility pole, causing it to break, fall on the two vehicles and block the intersection.
Fire and rescue responded to evaluate the striking driver, but he declined transport to the hospital. The driver was charged with reckless driving. Police did not release the identity of the driver in the weekly crime report.

The crash had caused Maple Avenue to close in both directions temporarily. Some residents and businesses experienced power outages in that part of town.
