9/11 Remembrance Ceremony To Be Held In 2025 In Vienna

A remembrance ceremony will be held in Vienna amid the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

VIENNA, VA — The anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks will be marked with a remembrance ceremony in Vienna.

The Town of Vienna and American Legion Post 180 will host a remembrance ceremony at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, on the Freeman Store lawn (131 Church St. NE, Vienna, VA) The ceremony honors the lives lost, survivors and those who made sacrifices in the response 24 years ago. Mayor Linda Colbert, Vienna Town Council and American Legion Post 180 officials will attend.

In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held inside the Vienna Community Center auditorium.

At least 2,973 people lost their lives in the attacks, between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia and the hijacked plane that crashed in a Pennsylvania field. Fairfax County's own first responders were part of the regional response to the attack on the Pentagon. The somber anniversary is marked across the country with memorial services, moments of silence and community events.
