Citibank Opening In Former Noodles & Company Space In Vienna
Citibank is planning to open a branch that will have room for community programming in a former restaurant space.

VIENNA, VA — The trend of bank conversions from former restaurant spaces continues, as Citibank will open a new branch in Vienna.
The Citibank branch will be located at 201 Maple Avenue East, the former location of Noodles & Company. The branch is expected to open in 2025.
According to Citibank, the 2,304-square-foot branch will offer the bank's full services and provide flexible seating and an open floor concept. The bank intends for the space to have community use through events, educational outreach and more.

"Our new branches are designed to transition seamlessly into vibrant hubs for community engagement," Mindy Mercaldo, head of the U.S. Branch Network for Citi, told Patch on how the restaurant-to-bank conversion benefits Vienna. "We view this space as a catalyst for connecting with Vienna and the surrounding communities through events and other programming."

Citibank may work with local nonprofits to host programming. For example, one of its locations in hosted homebuyer education workshops in collaboration with DC-based Marshall Heights Community Development Organization.

Other recent conversions to banks in Vienna have included the Burke & Herbert Bank drive-thru location in the former Peet's Coffee space and Chase Bank in the former Outback Steakhouse building. On the other hand, Vienna gained a restaurant when the former SunTrust Bank location was turned into the short-lived Yellow Diner and what is now Carnegie Diner.
