Bike To Work Day To Include Vienna Area Stops

VIENNA, VA — Bicyclists around Vienna will have an extra incentive to ditch the bike and commute in the fresh air during the next Bike to Work Day.

The annual Bike to Work Day will be held by the Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association on Friday, May 17. More than 100 locations around DC and the Virginia and Maryland suburbs will offer pit stops with freebies.

Bicyclists can register for Bike to Work Day to receive free giveaways, food and beverages at their chosen pit stop. Freebies will be available while supplies last.

Stops in and around Vienna include:

• Town of Vienna, Town of Vienna, Town Green (off the W&OD Trail) 144 Maple Avenue East, Vienna, VA, 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
• Mosaic at Strawberry Park (afternoon), 2910 District Avenue, Fairfax, VA, 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
• Oakton at Oakmont RECenter, 3200 Jermantown Rd., Oakton, VA, 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
• Tysons Corner Center, 1861 International Drive, McLean, VA, 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
• McLean – MITRE Corporation, 1851 Chain Bridge Rd. McLean, VA, 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The first 16,000 registered participants throughout the DC region will get a free T-shirt. All participants will be entered into a raffle for a new bicycle.

The Town of Vienna's pit stop will be hosted by the Town’s Bicycle Advisory Committee on the Town Green and include bike techs to help with minor repairs.

There are 27 pit stops across Fairfax County. Other pit stops around the region are in Washington, DC, City of Alexandria, Arlington County, Loudoun County, Prince William County and the Maryland counties of Charles, Frederick, Montgomery and Prince George's.
