VIRGINIA — An idea to bring back rail to the Northern Virginia's Washington & Old Dominion Trail has been floated by a community coalition.

The Northern Virginia Transit Revitalization Advocacy Coalition published an op-ed in Greater Greater Washington seeking a feasibility study on a commuter rail alongside the trail. The group envisions a commuter rail on park property next to the existing Washington & Old Dominion Trail. It would provide new rail service in more parts of Loudoun County (Purcellville, Hamilton, Leesburg, downtown Ashburn and Sterling as well as Vienna Town Center. It would connect to the Silver Line Metro at Reston Town Center and East Falls Church.
