First Barns at Wolf Trap Shows Announced For 2022-2023 Season
The Barns at Wolf Trap, an indoor venue made from two 18th-century barns will host shows starting in the fall season.

VIENNA, VA — While summer shows wrap up at Wolf Trap's Filene Center, music lovers can continue to catch performances at The Barns at Wolf Trap starting in the fall.
The Barns at Wolf Trap, a 382-seat indoor venue, is built from two 18th-century barns and hosts shows during the cooler months. On Tuesday, the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announced the first Barns at Wolf Trap shows for the 2022-2023 season.
"We’re excited to welcome audiences back for another superb Barns season," said Arvind Manocha, president and CEO of Wolf Trap Foundation, in a statement. "From R&B crooners and famed fiddlers, to indie voices and renowned classical artists, Wolf Trap is proud to continue to showcase a diverse range of performers in a relaxed setting known for its intimate atmosphere and acoustic prowess."

The season kicks off with the sounds of New Orleans from the Rebirth Brass Band on Oct. 6. Artists returning to Barns at Wolf Trap include Western swing trio Hot Club of Cowtown on Oct. 16, Irish music legends Altan on Oct. 27), rock musician Stephen Kellogg on Nov. 4), Grammy-winning Brazilian jazz pianist Eliane Elias on Nov. 5), and stories and songs from JD Souther on Nov. 10.
Artists making their Barns at Wolf Trap debut are bluegrass fiddler Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper on Oct. 13, Hüsker Dü frontman Bob Mould on Oct. 19, Syrian clarinetist and composer Kinan Azmeh on Oct. 21, post-modern diva Meow Meow on Oct. 23, international string group Duplessy & Violins of the World on Nov. 16, jazz saxophonist Rudresh Mahanthappa on Nov. 17 and pianist Holly Bowling on Nov. 30. In addition, Booker T. Jones, known for Booker T. and the M.G.’s, will make his Barns at Wolf Trap debut as a solo artist on April 12 as he celebrates 60 years of the "Green Onions" album.

Several performances will celebrate the holiday season: fiddler Eileen Ivers: A Joyful Christmas on Nov. 27 for two performances, holiday favorites from Tony-winning Broadway star John Lloyd Young: Heart of Christmas on Dec. 1 and Christmas with the Celts on Dec. 2.
Tribute performances will be part of the season, including Newmyer Flyer’s A Tribute to Burt Bacharach & Hal David on Nov. 26, 1964: The Tribute on Feb. 9 and 10 and Bandhouse Gigs’ Tribute to Fountains of Wayne on April 1. Comedy acts planned for the season are up-and-coming artists for Nashville Emerging Artists Night on Oct. 15, The Second City from Feb. 15 to 18 and The 34th Annual Evening of Comedy on April 14 and April 15.
Other 2023 performances include Masters of Hawaiian Music on Feb. 23, Irish-American supergroup Cherish The Ladies on March 5, International Guitar Night on March 8 and 9, chanteuse Storm Large on March 16 and folk artist John McCutcheon on April 20.
The venue will also host a Chamber Music at The Barns season curated by Artistic Advisor Wu Han. The season will open with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s American Visitors on Oct. 28, followed by Paul Huang on violin and Anne-Marie McDermott on piano on Nov. 11. The Emerson String Quartet will perform at Wolf Trap one last time during their farewell tour on Dec. 9, while the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center performs an all-Schubert program with The Escher String Quartet and Gilbert Kalish on piano on Jan. 22.
Wu Han will perform Rachmaninoff Celebration on Feb. 19 to commemorate Sergei Rachmaninoff’s 150th birth year and the 80th anniversary of his death. Winter Journey in Concert on March 31 highlights works by composers who were victims of the Holocaust and Berlin's all-Jewish orchestra Jüdischer Kulturbund. The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center will return with Voices of the Americas on March 19 and wrap up the chamber season with The Brahms Effect on April 21.
