Gas Pump Skimming Device Found at Vienna Gas Station: Police

Also in Vienna Police report: Trespassing at Southside Park, burglary of pool house, vehicle window smashed, purse stolen at Vienna park.

VIENNA, VA -- The following summary contains various incidents of general interest as well as vehicular crashes handled by the Town of Vienna, Virginia Police Department from August 12, 2016 – August 18, 2016. Readers are reminded that an “arrest” is based upon probable cause and does not always mean that someone was physically taken into custody. Furthermore, it does not mean that an individual is automatically guilty of a crime. Judicial outcomes and post-arrest proceedings can be researched through the appropriate court’s website.

Fraud 16-006844 Exxon 395 Maple Avenue, East August 10 2:01 p.m.: A compliance officer with the Virginia Office of Weights and Measures contacted Vienna Police Department about a skimming device. The device was discovered when the compliance officer was checking the pumps.

Property Lost 16-006885 1200 Block Drake Street, SW August 11 6:17 p.m.: A resident reported they lost their passport and permanent resident card.

Grand Larceny 16-006900 800 Block Park Street, SE Between July 28 at 12:00 p.m. and August 4 at 12:00 p.m. A resident reported they had close to $1,700.00 worth of jewelry stolen from their jewelry box.

Destruction of Property 16-006910 1000 Block Park Street, SE August 12 5:31 p.m. A resident reported their air conditioning unit to their residence had been damaged. The resident believed the damage was intentional.

Police Service 16-006912: Vienna Police Department 215 Center Street, South August 12 7:34 p.m. Ofc. Sterling met with a citizen who had questions regarding a custody order violation. The citizen was given information on how to handle the situation through the court system.

Property Found 16-006914: 300 Block Maple Avenue, East August 12 8:29 p.m. A citizen turned in a found silver ring.

Arrest – ABC Violation 16-006925: Southside Park 1317 Ross Drive, SW August 13 4:08 a.m. While patrolling the listed area Ofc. Hylinski observed 3 subjects in a parked vehicle. There are clearly posted signs that state the park is closed at sunset. Ofc. Hylinski approached the vehicle and spoke with the occupants. As he spoke with the occupants he detected signs of possible impairment, as well as open bottles of alcoholic beverages. A 34 year old male subject from Cedar Lane SE, Vienna, a 32 year old male subject from Cedar Lane SE, Vienna and a 25 year old male subject from Kelley Street SW, Vienna were issued summons for trespassing and possession of alcohol in a park. All three subjects were released on their signature.

Unlawful Entry 16-006942: 800 Block Tapawingo Road, SW Between August 12 at 8:15 p.m. and August 13 at 11:30 a.m. Ofc. Post responded to the listed area for a possible burglary. When she arrived she determined the location to be a pool house. She spoke with the manager who informed her someone had entered the pool house unlawfully, but no items had been stolen.

Suspicious Event 16-006944 500 Block Ridge Road, SW August 13 6:55 p.m. A resident called to report a suspicious vehicle outside of their residence. The vehicle left the area prior to officers arriving.

Suspicious Event 16-006950: 100 Block Patrick, SE August 13 11:15 p.m. A citizen called to report a verbal argument they had with an unknown subject. The male citizen stated an unknown male subject accused him of speaking to his sister. The male subject fled the area prior to officers arriving.

Arrest - Trespassing 16-006953: Yeonas Circle, SW August 14 1:08 a.m. Officers responded to the listed residence for a 911 hang-up. When officers arrived they could hear two subjects arguing inside the residence. Ofc. Hylinski spoke with the two subjects and determined one of the subjects was refusing to leave the residence at the request of the resident care taker. The subject was given several opportunities to leave the residence, but refused. The 21 year old male subject from Piney Grove Court, Fairfax was arrested for trespassing. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Grand Larceny 16-006970: 1100 Block Desale Street, SW Between August 13 at 3:00 p.m. and August 14 at 4:00 p.m. A resident reported their sons’ bike had been stolen from their open-air car port.

Destruction of Property 16-006988: Navy Federal Credit Union 820 Follin Lane, SE Between August 9 at 12:00 p.m. and August 15 at 9:30 a.m. An employee of the listed business called to report damage to a work vehicle.

Assist Fire EMS 16-006996: 1000 Block Moorefield Hill Drive, SW August 25 3:47 p.m. Officers assisted Fairfax County Fire and EMS with a vehicle fire.

Domestic Dispute 16-007009: Patrick Street, SE August 15 9:19 p.m. Officers responded to the listed address for a dispute between a male and female subject. PFC Tracy first spoke with the female subject who told him the dispute was only verbal; the male subject confirmed the same. During the dispute the male subject injured his leg and was evaluated by Fairfax County Fire and EMS. Both subjects stated the male subjects injured leg was not intentional. The female subject was trespassed from the residence.

Property Lost 16-007021: 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE August 16 11:21 a.m. A Town of Vienna Parks and Recreation employee called to report a lost laptop computer.

Open Door Window 16-007034: 1200 Block Ross Drive, SW August 16 4:36 p.m. Officers responded to the listed address for an open door. When officers arrived they found the front door to the residence open. Officers searched the residence and found nothing suspicious.

Arrest - Trespassing 16-007041 Southside Park 1317 Ross Drive, SW August 16 10:33 p.m. Ofc. Herrera and Ofc. Bulti were patrolling the listed area when they observed two subjects in the park. There are clearly posted signs stating the park closes at sunset. Ofc. Bulti spoke with a male subject and a juvenile female subject. The 18 year old male subject from Cedar Lane SE, Vienna was issued a summons for trespassing. He was released on his signature. The female juvenile subject was counseled on trespassing and her parents were contacted

Suspicious Event 16-007054: Cube Storage 300 Mill Street, NE August 17 11:41 a.m. Officers responded to the listed address for a verbal dispute between two male subjects. Both subjects stated the dispute was over a traffic incident that occurred the prior day. Both subjects agreed to separate.

Vandalism 16-007065: 200 Block Locust Street, SE Between August 16 at 6:00 p.m. and August 17 at 6:51 p.m. A property manager discovered two dryer units vandalized.

Trespassing 16-007071: 1200 Block Cottage Street, SW August 17 11:15 p.m. Officers responded to the listed area for a male subject refusing to leave the residence. When officers arrived they spoke with the male subject who agreed to leave.

Police Service 16-007075: 700 Block Kingsley Road, SW August 18 2:48 a.m. At the request of an outside agency, Ofc. Sterling conducted a welfare check on a family. Ofc. Sterling spoke with the family and determined all the family members were ok.

Grand Larceny 16-007090: Glyndon Park 300 Glyndon Street, NE August 18 4:33 p.m. A citizen at the listed park was approached by another citizen telling them their vehicle was being broken in to. The citizen returned to their vehicle to find one of the vehicles windows smashed and the citizens’ purse gone. Officers searched the area, but the suspect fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.

Grand Larceny 16-007091: Glyndon Park 300 Glyndon Street, NE August 18 5:05 p.m. While investigating the previous larceny at Glyndon Park, MPO Lyons was approached by an additional citizen who stated their vehicles window had been smashed and their purse stolen.

Property Lost 16-007093: Patrick Circle, SW Between May 1 at 12:00 p.m. and August 18 at 5:22 p.m. A resident called to report their license plates had been lost.
