Madison Defeats Marshall In Cross-Town Matchup
Tuesday night win puts Warhawk girls basketball in control of the Liberty District
Fresh off title game, continued to roll Tuesday night with a 57-37 win over cross-town rival , a victory that allows them to take sole posession of first place in the Liberty District.
The Marshall Statesmen started fast, scoring the first basket of the game. Madison reeled off the next seven points and by the end of the first quarter the Warhawks led 17-5. The Statesmen battled back to close within 5 points midway through the second quarter, but a late Madison surge allowed them to lead 32-21 at halftime.
The Warhawks came out strong in the second half, outscoring the Statesmen 25-16 to secure the win.

Despite solid defensive attempts by Marshall's Christine Labarbera and Rachel Waldron, Madison freshman forward Kelly Koshuta led the Warhawks in scoring with 25 points, her ninth straight double-digit scoring game.
Junior guards Megan Henshaw and Megan LeDuc each scored 11 points, and sophomore guard Katie Kerrigan notched 4 points. Rounding out the scoring for the Warhawks were senior guard Lindsey Joost and freshman guards Mamie Henshaw and Janna Tremba, each with 2 points.

Marshall seniors Maddie O’Beirne and Waldron led the Statesmen with with 14 and 11 points respectively.
The Warhawks take the court at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Thomas Jefferson at home, while the Statesmen face McLean High School at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Marshall.
