The first production under Marshall High School's new theater director will be "Metamorphoses" by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — After George C. Marshall High School's former theater director Bernie DeLeo retired after 16 years, new director Ahmad Maaty will have his debut high school production in the fall.
Statesmen Theatre will perform the Tony Award-winning "Metamorphoses" by playwright Mary Zimmerman. Performances will be held Thursday, Nov. 14 to Sunday, Nov. 17 in the Marshall High School auditorium.
"Metamorphoses" is a play based on the Greek and Roman myths by the poet Ovid, exploring themes of love, loss, transformation, and the power of storytelling. According to Statesmen Theatre, Zimmerman’s adaptation of "Metamorphoses" is known for unique staging with a central pool of water. The play uses contemporary language that modern audiences will recognize and understand. Students will portray characters such as King Midas, Orpheus and Eurydice, Aphrodite, and Narcissus.
