Online Safety For Young People To Be Discussed By Vienna Mayor, Police

Vienna's mayor and police chief will discuss online safety due to online predators targeting younger people.

VIENNA, VA — With minors being especially vulnerable to online predators, two Vienna officials will make online safety the topic of discussion at the next Mayor and Chief at Your Service.

Mayor and Chief at Your Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the Vienna Police Department Community Room, 215 Center Street S. This is the fourth and final quarterly event the town officials will host in 2024.

Mayor Linda Colbert and Police Chief Jim Morris will lead the discussion on online predators and scams targeting younger people. Juan Vazquez, the Vienna Police Department’s public information officer, Juan Vazquez, will also share the risks of certain social media apps, how predators will use them to target and scam children and teenagers, and ways parents can get involved to protect their children. After the presentation, the mayor and police chief will be able to discuss other topics and take questions.

Limited parking is available at the police department. Attendees may park across the street in the Vienna Community Center or Vienna Elementary School.
