Vienna Mayor Asks Fairfax Supervisors To Oppose Tyson Casino: Letter
Vienna Mayor Linda J. Colbert calls on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to oppose the Tysons casino referendum bill.

Vienna Mayor Linda J. Colbert calls on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to oppose Senate Bill 675, which would give the board the authority to put a Tysons casino referendum on a future ballot.
Dear Chairman McKay and Fairfax Board of Supervisors,
The Vienna Town Council is unanimously opposed to SB675 which would allow a casino in Tysons. With the location in such close proximity to the Town of Vienna, we are very concerned about the safety and wellbeing of our residents and the harmful impacts the casino may have on our town. A casino does not align with the family friendly values of our community. Vienna's past two mayors and I have been active members of the Greater Tysons Citizen's Coalition and there was a huge effort and review process with the Fairfax County Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors to ensure that the Tysons' Comprehensive Plan addressed the concerns of the community. A casino would undermine that effort.

Every resident that I have heard from about the proposed casino is opposed to it citing reasons that range from concerns about traffic congestion, crime and the overall wellbeing of our community. A casino in Tysons puts the quality of life that our residents greatly cherish at risk.
Please support the Town of Vienna and our entire community and oppose SB675.

Sincerely,
Linda J. Colbert, Mayor
