Person Dies After Being Struck By Metro Train Near Vienna
Orange Line service was delayed for several hours while authorities investigated.
VIENNA, VA — A person is dead after authorities said they were struck by a Metro Orange Line train near Vienna.
Around 3:15 a.m., the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority confirmed a person was hit by a train outside Vienna. The incident prompted the agency to suspend train service between Dunn Loring and Vienna.
Delays continued for several hours until service was fully restored around 7:45 a.m.

An NBC Washington report citing the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department said the person's body was recovered about an hour and a half after they were struck.
The initial investigation revealed the person intentionally walked onto the tracks before they were hit, NBC Washington reported.
