Photo Of The Day: Boy Scouts Clean Up Caboose

The area around the Old Caboose off the Washington and Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail is getting an updated look as part of a local teen's Eagle Scout project.

Steven Cool, a Vienna native who attends Thomas Jefferson High School, spent the last two Mondays revamping the area with fellow scouts from Troop 1887, sponsored by American Legion Post 177 in Fairfax.

The scouts are replacing the wood boards around the perimeter of the caboose's garden, and also replacing the area's plants. All of the plants are native, Cool said.

Cool said he worked with the Town of Vienna to select the site for his project.
