Pizza Vienna Slices Up Fresh Ingredients, Community Spirit
Pizza Vienna, co-owned by longtime Vienna resident Ravi Johal, is known for its wood-fired brick oven pizzas. New flavors are coming soon.

VIENNA, VA — Ravi Johal wanted Pizza Vienna to be more than just another place to get a slice of pizza in Vienna.
Pizza Vienna was reborn from the former PizzaRoni location in late 2022 at 235 Maple Ave E. The Vienna resident of more than 32 years has a background in information technology but worked with a business partner who has experience in restaurants to open Pizza Vienna.
"When we took over, we changed the menu," Johal told Patch. "We changed the ingredients, using the best ingredients."

As the name suggests, Pizza Vienna specializes in the cheese and topping-covered pies that Vienna residents enjoy on the regular. The restaurant makes its dough fresh in house rather than using frozen dough. Sauce is also made in house, and pizzas are cooked in Pizza Vienna's signature wood-fired brick oven.

Along with the quality of ingredients, Johal says Pizza Vienna also offers pizza by the slice, which is an alternative to buying a whole pie. A few of the pizza by the slice options include the classic cheese and pepperoni as well as premium choices like chicken Alfredo, Vienna eggplant, Greek and Buffalo.

The restaurant is starting to introduce Indian flavors as well. It already has the chicken tikka kebab pizza with masala marinated chicken, green pepper and onion. Other flavors coming soon are butter chicken and malai kofta.

One measure of pride for Johal has been more than 600 Google reviews and a 4.7-star rating for Pizza Vienna in the less than two years of business.
Community is just as important as food quality to the longtime Vienna resident. A father of two sons who attended Wolftrap Elementary School and Kilmer Middle School before either Madison High School or Marshall High School, Johal has gotten Pizza Vienna involved in a 5K for Wolftrap Elementary and other fundraisers for Louise Archer Elementary, Oakton High School and Madison High School. When Marshall High School graduate Ilia Malinin won a world title, Pizza Vienna offered free slices to Marshall High School students.
The pizza restaurant has helped satisfy appetites at various town events, such as Taste of Vienna, Viva Vienna and Vienna Oktoberfest. Johal says the Rotary Club of Vienna board members are all acquainted with him and held their meeting at Pizza Vienna ahead of Memorial Day weekend's Viva Vienna festival.
On the overall response of town residents to Pizza Vienna, Johal says "they are so warm, so friendly."
