Police Log: Man Accuses Daughter of Dognapping

A man reported his daughter tried to steal his dog, Vienna Police said.

A resident on the 600 block of Thelma Circle SW called police around 3:20 p.m. Oct. 4 to report he believed his daughter attempted to steal his dog, police said. The daughter told police she and her sister wanted to visit the dog, not steal it, according to the report. .

The two girls returned the dog and left the area.

Other highlights from the Vienna Police Department Log, Oct. 5 to 11:

• An employee reported they made a delivery of kitchen cabinets to business in town. The business paid for the cabinets with a check that was returned by the bank. The employee attempted to contact the writer of the check but was unsuccessful. This case is being investigated.
• A citizen reported that she lost her Virginia drivers license and a debit card at McMahon and Company, 301 Maple Ave. West between 10:16 a.m. Sept. 29 and 1:22 p.m. Oct. 8. The card was canceled and no unauthorized charges had been made.
• An employee of Vienna Family Medicine, 115 Park St. SE, reported an ex-patient had been making harassing telephone calls to another employee of the business between midnight and 11:59 p.m. Oct. 1. The ex-patient was contacted and advised to cease the telephone calls. The employee did not wish to pursue charges. 
• A resident reported she hired a contractor to install a swimming pool at her residence on the 100 block of Kingsley Road SE around 11:12 a.m. Oct. 4. The contractor became involved in an argument with a sub-contractor concerning payment for services. The homeowner advised the sub-contractor to leave her property and not return. He complied with her wishes.
• An employee of Navy Federal Credit Union, 820 Follin Lane SE, reported a customer had become unruly over what she thought was the unfair handling of a business matter around 1:48 p.m. Oct. 4. The customer admitted she had become upset but then calmed down.
• An employee of Giant Shopping Center, 359 Maple Ave. SE, reported two juveniles had been detained after attempting to steal groceries, including alcohol, from the store around 3:48 p.m. Oct. 4. A sergeant responded and spoke with the girls. The girls admitted to taking the items. The sergeant notified the parents of both girls, who responded to the Giant. The girls were released to their parents.
• During a traffic stop on Maple Avenue and East Street NE around 11:25 p.m. Oct. 4, the driver showed signs of impairment. After failing to complete field sobriety tests, William Martin Fisher, 24, of Burdette Road in Bethesda, Md., was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Fisher was transported to the Vienna Police Station for a breath analysis, which he refused. He was then transported to Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where warrants were issued for driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test and open container. Fisher was held on a $500 bond.
• A citizen walked into police headquarters with a dog she found roaming alone in the area of Cunningham Park Elementary School around 12:21 a.m. Oct. 5. The dog did not have a Town of Vienna License or any identifying information. The dog was transported to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. Shortly after being taken to the shelter, the dog’s owner was identified and advised where to pick up the dog.
• During a traffic stop on the 500 block of Maple Avenue West around 1:48 a.m. Oct. 5, the driver showed signs of possible impairment. After failing to complete field sobriety tests, Alice Fakir, 37, of Egan Street in Fairfax was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Fakir was transported to the Vienna Police Station for breath analysis. She was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where a warrant was issued for driving while intoxicated. Fakir was held on a $2,500 bond.
• An alarm company reported a residential burglary alarm had been activated on the 300 block of East Street NE around 1:12 p.m. Oct. 5. Two officers responded and found a door to be unsecured. They searched the residence and found no evidence of a burglary. A business card was left advising the homeowner to notify the police department when they returned.
• A citizen walked into the police station, 215 Center St. South, to inquire about the existence of a protective order around 5:41 p.m. Oct. 5. The protective order was verified by Fauquier County and served.
• During a traffic stop on Maple Avenue near Nutley Street NW around 4:34 a.m. Oct. 6, the driver showed signs of possible impairment. After failing to complete field sobriety tests, Luis Alexis Angarita, 39, of John Turley Place in Fairfax was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Angarita was transported to the Vienna Police Station for a breath analysis. Once at the police station, Angarita was unable to provide a breath sample. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where a sample of his blood was taken for analysis. A warrant was then issued for driving while intoxicated. Angarita was held on a $1,000 bond.
• A resident reported he found his deceased mother in her bedroom on the 400 block of West Street NW around 5 a.m. Oct. 6. There were no signs of foul play. A detective will follow up with the case.
