Police Log: Man Threatens Walkers With Butcher Knife, Police Investigate Mailbox Vandalism
The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction

Police arrested a man last week for threatening to stab two people with a butcher knife as they were walking along Cedar Lane.
Police responded to a report of an assault around 10:46 p.m. Nov. 20 on Cedar Lane. They spoke with two people who said they were walking home from Pizza Bolis in the Cedar Lane Shopping Center when they were approached by a man with a butcher knife threatening to stab them. Both people fled from the man without being harmed.
After further investigation, police arrested Wilmer Ocampo, 30, of Vienna for the assault. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where police discovered Ocampo had been deported from the country twice before and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency had an active warrant for him.

A resident of Ninovan Road SE reported hearing suspicious sounds outside their home around 12:20 a.m. Nov. 21. Police responded and found several people in the area, who police determined may have been involved with the destruction of several area mailboxes. Police are continuing to investigating this case.
More highlights from the Vienna Police Department, Nov. 17 to 22:
- A citizen reported using her wallet at the Fresh Market on Branch Road betwen 12:30 and 7 p.m. Nov. 17. When she returned to her ofice, she left her purse unattended. While there she got a bank alert about possible credit card fraut and discovered her wallet was missing from her purse and her credit cards had been used fraudulently at several Vienna and Alexandria locations. Police are investigating the case.
- Police and Fairfax County EMS responded around 6:30 a.m. Nov. 18 to a home on Center Street N to treat an apparently intoxicated male subject who called 9-1-1 for help. When police entered the home, they smelled natural gas. After investigating, police discovered the man turned on his gas stove but had never ignited the burner. The stove was turned off by first responders and the subject refused any treatment or help for his condition.
- A Fairfax County detective asked for Vienna Police assistance in detaining a 17-year-old man Nov. 18 on Maple Ave East for selling counterfeit football jerseys. The jerseys were being advertised on Craigslist, the detective said. The man was taken to Vienna Police Headquarters. The Fairfax County detective will determine if charges will be filed.
- While conducting a traffic stop at 1:10 a.m. Nov. 19 in the 1100 Block of Maple Avenue NE, Police noticed the driver showing signs of impairment. After several field sobriety test attempts, Rama Montakhabi, 26, of Centreville, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was taken to Vienna Police Headquarters for breath analysis and then to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
- Police responded to a call at 3:35 p.m. Nov. 19 for an apparently intoxicated man walking along Knoll Street NW, looking into vehicles and shouting obscenities. Police located the man and, after investigating, arrested Wayne Height, 50, of Vienna for drunk in public. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
- Around 5:04 p.m. Nov. 19, Police responded to Giant Supermarket at 359 Maple Ave E. for a report of a woman in the process of hiding a beef tenderloin in her purse. The caller was aware of the woman's identity. Police issued a summons to Larissa Taran, 50, of Vienna for petit larceny. She was released after signing it.
- Police responded to a report of an elderly couple fighting at 4:21 p.m. Nov. 20 on Locust Street. After investigating, he found the woman was arguing with her husband about money when the husband "aggressively approached the wife as if to possibly harm her." The husband tried to stop short but could not and accidentally fell on top of the wife. Police determined this was an accident and contacted the couple's son, who responded to resolve the issue.
- While investigating the mailbox vandalism case Nov. 21, Police found several young men in the area. During the investigation into the vandalisms, police discovered the men had illegally consumed alcohol. Police issued Zackary Babbitt, 18; Thomas Griffin, 19; Mohammed Samantar, 18; and Spencer Price, 18, all of Vienna, summons for underage possession of alcohol. They were released after signing them and the mother of one of the men responded to drive them all home.
- A woman reported at 11:19 a.m. Nov. 21 she and her daughter believed they were being followed at Magruder's, 180 Maple Ave SW, by a strange man. Police could not locate the man.
- A juvenile man was found unresponsive by a family member at 11:46 a.m. Nov. 22. The man had tried to harm himself and was not breathing. Police and Fairfax County EMS responded and took the boy to an area hospital. He died Nov. 25, police said.
- A doctor reported at 6:48 p.m. Nov. 22 a former employee has several patients' records and refuses to return them.The former employee had the records because she allowed to work from home, the doctor said. Police are still investigating this case.
- During a traffic stop at 11:29 p.m. Nov. 22 at Broadleaf Drive and Holloway Court NE, Police detected alcohol. An investigation showed three of the car's occupants had consumed alcohol while underage. Joseph Paez, 19, Steven Brenyo, 19, and Alexander Callsen, 19, all of Vienna, were issued summonses for underage possession of alcohol. They were released after signing them.
