Police Nab Theft Suspect After Craigslist Post

Vienna officers identify 16-year-old Vienna boy after he attempts to sell stolen items

Vienna Police identified and arrested the suspect in a Dec. 11 theft case after he attempted to sell the stolen items on Craigslist.

Police say a laptop and sports tickets were stolen from a man on Dec. 11. On Dec. 18, the man, who does not live in Vienna, discovered his stolen tickets for sale on Craigslist. He contacted the seller and made arrangements to meet him at the Vienna Community Center, and then contacted Vienna Police.

Officers conducted surveillance during the sale later that day and investigated the seller, a 16-year-old boy from Vienna. While investigating, they also discovered suspected narcotics and marijuana.

The boy was taken to the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention facility, where he was held. He will be charged with possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
