Showers, Storms Could Disrupt Event-Filled First Weekend Of May In NoVA, DC
Showers and possible thunderstorms in Northern VA could change or cancel outdoor events scheduled throughout the first weekend of May.
VIRGINIA — Rain could dampen the outlook for the first weekend of May, when various major events have been scheduled around the Northern Virginia and D.C. region.
The National Weather Service's Baltimore-Washington office is calling for rain on Saturday and Sunday. In D.C., there's a 70 percent chance of rain during the day Saturday with a high around 61 and 80 percent chance at night with a low of 55. Sunday could bring showers and a possible thunderstorm with an 80 percent chance of precipitation and high near 72. The chance of precipitation drops to 50 percent Sunday night while showers and thunderstorms could still appear.
Chances of showers and thunderstorms continue into the early week, although the likelihood goes down from the weekend.

Some weekend events are making adjustments due to the weather forecast. Running of the Chihuahuas at DC's Wharf has already been rescheduled for May 19 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday's Claude Moore Spring Fest in Sterling will continue under tents and indoors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Claude Moore Recreation Center and Community Center. Other events are being held inside, like the Smithsonian Craft Show from May 1 to 5 at the National Building Museum, Capital Rare Book Fair Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the University Club and Free Comic Book Day at various locations Saturday.

Friday and Saturday, URBNmarket Spring Pop Up Market on Saturday, Alexandria Art Show and Craft Spring Fair on Saturday, Adams Morgan Spring PorchFest in D.C. Saturday, Mount Vernon's Revolutionary War Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, Loudoun Latino Festival Sunday and Northern Virginia Thai Street Food and Culture Festival in Manassas.
