Survey Results On Vienna Parks And Recreation Needs To Be Presented

VIENNA, VA — Vienna residents were invited to share their priorities for future parks and recreation planning and will now be part of a discussion on what's next.

The Town of Vienna's Department Parks and Recreation started a Plan to Play master plan process to guide future maintenance, operation, and new opportunities for parks, trails, and recreational facilities and programming. According to the town, the master plan is a "multi-year vision" for the future but does not provide project funding or site design proposals for every park.

Starting in the spring, town residents completed a survey to provide insight on what future parks and recreation should look like. Those survey results will be presented at a community meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St. SE. After hearing the survey results, residents can share feedback on the results and discuss funding options to bring the vision to fruition.

The plan's development is expected to take 12 to 16 months. According to the master plan timeline, the town began studying existing parks and recreation conditions in December 2023 and will build the plan starting in October into spring 2025. Plan review could begin around December and wrap up with potential approval in spring 2025.
