Financials: During the 2010 fiscal year, the total expenses of Optimist International - the parent group that includes the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna - were $6.5 million.

History: "The Optimist Club of Greater Vienna was established in 1955 and has been serving the greater Vienna community for over 50 years," the club's website explains. "Vienna Optimists conduct community service projects and provide a helping hand to youth through scholarships, awards, sponsorship of educational and school activities and by recognizing accomplishments of the youth of our community. For Optimist International we are Club Number 16220."

You can also contribute to the Optimists' causes by buying a Christmas tree at their annual Christmas tree sale or participating in their Walk for Growing Hope or supporting the Vienna Farmers Market open from early May to late October.
