Fresh off Monday's first presidential debate, Hillary Clinton running mate Tim Kaine will campaign in his own backyard Wednesday.
Fresh off the first presidential debate of the campaign Monday night, Hillary Clinton's running mate U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, will campaign for the ticket Wednesday in his own backyard of Northern Virginia, the Clinton campaign announced Tuesday morning.
The Democratic vice presidential nominee is expected to campaign Wednesday morning, at 9 a.m., in Northern Virginia, where he will discuss "why Hillary Clinton is the only candidate with the knowledge, steadiness and temperament to be Commander in Chief," the campaign noted. The campaign said they'll be revealing more information, including the location, soon.
On Wednesday, Kaine will also urge voters to get ready for Election Day by registering to vote ahead of the Oct. 17 deadline or by checking their registration status at iwillvote.com.

Clinton leads in all regions of Virginia, except for the Southwest/Southside of the Commonwealth, where she trails Trump, 52-36 percent, according to a poll released Monday by Christopher Newport University. She leads in Northern Virginia, 52-30 percent, according to the University's Judy Ford Wason Center for Public Policy. Clinton’s lead in Virginia is built "upon strong support from women and college-educated voters in Northern Virginia," according to the survey.
In a full ballot test, Clinton’s lead over Trump drops to 39-33 percent, with Libertarian Gary Johnson picking up 15 percent of the vote, according to the survey. Green candidate Jill Stein and Independent candidate Evan McMullin each pick up 3 percent.

"Clinton’s lead over Trump in Virginia is very strong,” said Dr. Quentin Kidd, director of the University's Wason Center. “It is not only built upon her own partisan identifiers, but also on a very strong showing from vote-rich Northern Virginia, a large gender gap and stronger support than Democrats usually get from college-educated white voters and white women.”
Kaine last appeared on the stump for Clinton in Northern Virginia in July at Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale in an appearance with Clinton, just before she announced Kaine as her running mate choice.
Next week, Kaine will debate GOP nominee Donald Trump's running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Longwood University in Farmville, Va. The debate will be moderated by Elaine Quijano, anchor, CBS News.
Trump and Clinton will meet again in two other debates: Sunday, Oct. 9 at Washington University in St. Louis and Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the University of Las Vegas. The second debate will be in the form of a town hall, moderated by CNN's Anderson Cooper and ABC News' Martha Raddatz. The last debate will be moderated by FOX News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace.
Kaine, 58, an avid harmonica player who gets a kick out of playing bluegrass and gospel tunes, especially on family camping trips, lives in Richmond with his wife Anne. The two have three children, Woody, Annella and Nat. A former judge, Holton has the distinction of having lived twice in the governor's mansion: as a daughter to Republican Gov. Linwood Holton, who served from 1970-'74, and as first lady with then-Gov. Kaine.
Kaine won 52.8 percent of the vote in his last election in Virginia, in 2012, his first run for a U.S. Senate seat, against former U.S. Sen. George Allen, a Republican. Kaine won areas in Virginia that sometimes lean Republican, including Northern Virginia suburbs in Loudoun and Prince William counties.
