Local residents and husband-and-wife Shoaib Ahmed and Samreen Khadeer are the operators of Toastique Vienna. After visiting a Toastique location in D.C., they wanted to bring the nutrition-focused menu to Vienna.
“From our first taste of Toastique, we were completely hooked. It'smore than just a café;it’s a lifestyle that celebrates health, positivity and community,” said Khadeer. “Whether it’s a spot for a morning smoothie, a post-workout bite or catching up with friends, we hope our store feels like home. Vienna has such an incredible sense of togetherness, and we can’t wait to celebrate that through food, health and connection.”

Former collegiate cheerleader Brianna Keefe founded Toastique in 2018 to make healthy food "approachable, accessible, and enjoyable." The flagship location opened in Washington, D.C. and generated over $1 million in sales during the first year. Keefe franchised the concept, and it has expanded to open other locations in D.C., California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Nevada, New York and Virginia. Additional franchise locations are in the works.

The franchise has locations around the U.S., including Old Town Alexandria and Arlington's Clarendon and National Landing neighborhoods in Northern Virginia. Toastique is also opening shops at 11990 Inspiration Street, Suite 2A in Reston and 9891 Georgetown Pike in Great Falls.
Toastique replaces Greenheart Juice Shop, a local concept that opened its Vienna location in 2021. Alicia Swanstrom first launched Greenheart Juice Shop in the DC region in 2013, honoring her late partner Doug Green, who was killed in action in Afghanistan. There was uncertainty in 2022 that all Greenheart Juice Shop locations could close, but it remained open under new ownership with Swanstrom as director of operations. However, shops permanently closed this August.
