Two Vienna Police Officers Graduate from Academy
Officers Katherine Holcombe, John Digan complete six months of training

Two town police officers graduated from the 59th Session of the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy on Oct. 19.
Officers Katherine Holcombe and John Digan completed six months of basic recruits session, a nonresidential training program consisting of more than 920 hours of instruction, according to a news release from the Vienna Police Department.
The curriculum includes 320 hours of academic studies, 94 hours of firearms training, 84 hours of emergency vehicle operation, 110 hours of physical training and 130 hours of defensive tactics training.

The Annandale campus of Northern Virginia Community College hosted the graduation ceremony Oct. 19. The academy in Chantilly trains new and veteran officers from Fairfax County Police and Sheriff's Office, as well as officers from the Town of Vienna and Town of Herndon. The academy also trains the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department's fire marshals.
Holcombe is a graduate of Radford University, where she received a master's degree in criminal justice. Digan is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, where he received degrees in international studies and political science.
