Shelley Kozlowski Returns To Vienna As New Town Clerk To Fill Vacancy

The new town clerk replacement will return to the Town of Vienna after serving a role in the City of Fairfax.

VIENNA, VA — On Monday, Vienna Town Council appointed a new town clerk who has experience with the Town of Vienna in a previous role.

Shelley Kozlowski will serve as the new town clerk, the town government announced. Kozlowski served as Vienna’s deputy town clerk from 2019 to 2023 before becoming chief deputy registrar in the City of Fairfax Elections office. Kozlowski will begin serving in the role on Sept. 15.

"I had a very positive experience serving under the previous clerk, and I look forward to serving Vienna again and supporting the municipal process," said Kozlowski in a statement.

The vacancy came after former Town Clerk Melanie Clark retired after 16 years. The town clerk's office is responsible for maintaining public records, including agendas and minutes for Town Council meetings.

Along with holding previous roles in Vienna and Fairfax, Kozlowski served as the clerk of the council and acting town manager in Haymarket, Virginia.
