Vienna Volunteer Fire Department to Host Annual Open House
The family friendly event is part of National Fire Prevention Week.

Vienna residents will have a chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at a real, working firehouse on Saturday, Oct. 10, when the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department hosts its annual open house for the community.
The open house will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. with activities for community members of all ages, and will aim to teach fire prevention and fire safety measures to honor the upcoming National Fire Prevention Week.
Among the events scheduled for the Vienna open house are:

- Practice using a fire extinguisher
- Hands-on smoke detector education
- Tour of the station
- 911 simulator
- Scavenger hunt
- Chance to try on real firefighter gear
- Sit in a fire truck and an ambulance
- Car seat safety checks
- Bike and pet safety information
- Child fingerprint/ID station
- Blood pressure checks
There will also be free games, prizes and refreshments on hand, as well as a bounce house for kids in attendance.
The event is free to attend, and is one of a handful of fire house open houses throughout the area to honor National Fire Prevention Week.
